“Being involved in competitive debate in high school was extremely formative for me. Debate
strengthened my public speaking skills, but more importantly it developed my thinking skills. Debate
taught me how to analyze issues from different perspectives, develop greater empathy for those
who think differently, and present ideas in a cogent way.”
Generously funded by the McLeese Foundation, S&DCF was founded in 2017. Today, our organization operates at schools across Canada, in partnership with Canadian Student Debating Federation (CSDF) Members. We also partner with like-minded organizations working with youth. Free of charge, we provide our partner schools with qualified instructors to run weekly debate meetings. Schools are also welcome to use Speech and Debate Canada’s debate curriculum at no cost.
