TEAM
Our team is made up of people who have walked the path themselves. Most of our instructors are university students from diverse faculties across the country, all of which have competed at both the high school and university level—including national champions. Every instructor, whether a contractor or volunteer, completes Vulnerable Sector Checks and the equivalent background screenings required by our partner schools.
Debra Miko
Executive Director
Debra began her journey in debate in 2002 when her eldest son joined the activity, later representing Canada internationally. In 2011, she revitalized the Alberta Debate and Speech Association, leaving a lasting impact in Western Canada. From 2013–2022, Debra served as President of the CSDF, rebuilding the organization, expanding debate nationwide, and supporting hundreds of students. A mother, grandmother, and business leader, she now brings her passion and dedication to the Speech & Debate Canada Foundation.
